Instant Pot Southern Green Beans

  • Prep: 5 minutes 
  • Cook: 17 minutes 


  • 1 Qt Fresh or Frozen Green Beans, strung and snapped 
  • 2 Cups Chicken Broth (homemade, if possible) 
  • 2 Tbsp Salt 
  • 3-4 Strips uncooked, chopped Bacon (optional) 

Combine Beans, Broth, Bacon (if using) and Salt in Instant Pot and stir. 

Set Instant Pot to cook on HIGH for 7 minutes. When finished, let rest for 10 more minutes. 

Open, spoon 'em out and dig in!

NOTE: If you don’t have bacon, then any pork cut will do. A ham hock would be perfect. 

NOTE: This cooking time yields very soft beans…like mama cooked them. But if you prefer yours like city folk, then reduce the cooking time to 4-5 minutes.. 

NOTE: Make sure you start with Green Beans  that are uncooked/raw. Don’t use a package of pre-cooked or “steamer” beans.
